environment.The Special Education Program Supervisor provides
supervision to assigned staff and program coordination and
consultation to teachers regarding behavioral and teaching
strategies.LOCATION: Hammitt Jr/Sr High School, 612 Oglesby Ave. in
NormalWORK HOURS: Full-time, Monday - Friday, following the school
calendar; ExemptESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Program Coordination: Works
cooperatively with classroom teachers to maintain and foster a
coordinated program for children.Consultation with Teachers: Serves
as a consultant to classroom teachers in developing and
implementing behavioral and teaching strategies.Performance
Feedback: Provides oral and written feedback on performance of
assigned staff, based on co-teaching activities and formal staff
observation.Personnel Management: Responsible for assigned staff,
including employment, training, supervision, support, and
performance feedback, including timely completion performance
evaluations.Staff Supervision: As delegated by the Director of
Academic Services, assumes responsibility for formal supervision of
staff, including staff evaluation, approval of time off/arranging
staff coverage (including sick time a.m. on-call), and maintains
staff accountability for lesson plans, data and analysis and report
writing.Staff Development: Participates in the development and
monitoring of comprehensive staff development and competency-based
training programs.Teaching: Provides classroom coverage for
teachers involved in providing transition or other
services.Professional Leadership: Models the agency's core values
of respect, integrity, teamwork, excellence, stewardship and
diversity in all activities and interactions. Represents the agency
in contact with professionals and the public outside the agency.
Exercises professional leadership by keeping abreast of current
trends and developments in special education. Provides training to
supervisors and employees on topics related to field of knowledge,
as needed. Assists in monitoring program and staff compliance with
State of Illinois Rules and Regulations for Special
Education.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor's degree in appropriate
area of education and/or early childhood education, specializing in
teaching children with one or more of the following disabilities:
behavior disorders, emotional problems, learning disabilities,
autism, speech and language deficits and/or developmental
delays.Certification with the State of Illinois in Special
Education in one or more of the above-mentioned disabilities.
Certification in the area of behavior disorders is preferred.Five
years of teaching and/or supervisory experience required.Excellent
communication skills required.Demonstrated leadership
skills.Willingness and ability to work in an interdisciplinary team
structure.Knowledge of and skill in utilizing behavioral approaches
with children.Must be able to implement non-violent physical crisis
intervention techniques according to The Baby Fold's physical
management and crisis intervention procedures.Ability and
willingness to travel for job responsibilities preferred, including
a valid Illinois driver's license, which has not been revoked or
suspended within the past three years and use of a personal vehicle
with adequate insurance.Must pass drug screen and necessary
background checks.Demonstrated competence in serving a culturally
diverse population. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively
with a diverse workforce.Mission oriented and willing to apply The
