Job Description:

Become part of the team that makes the adventure possible! As a General Assembly Equipment and Automation engineer, you will play a key role in enabling the product design team and process team by introducing innovative equipment and automation designs.

THIS IS WHAT YOU'LL DO:
- Leads project activities from concept layout development, equipment design, specifications, RFQ, schedule, installation, commissioning, startup, training, buy-off, and ROI.
- Develop a Request for Quotation (RFQ) that defines the design, engineering, and timeline requirements.
- Travel to vendor site for equipment bring-up, qualification, acceptance testing, and support during FAT/SAT event.
- Define Equipment design requirements like JPH, Uptime, availability, MTTF, MTBF, ergo, and Safety.
- Plans/coordinates installation of conveyor and Automation systems for new models in conjunction with process and product requirements.
- Responsible for Managing projects under very tight schedules and managing vendors.
- Develop DVA analysis, design reviews, and approval.
- Create detailed Manufacturing Instructions to document new equipment instruction manuals, spare parts lists, operating procedures, maintenance procedures, and other important documents that are received, written to standards, and updated to reflect any changes.
- Collaborate with various teams including design, quality, controls, process, and production to deliver optimum manufacturing solutions.
- Develop equipment qualifications including correlation, process capability (CP/CPK), and Gage Repeatability / Reproducibility (GR&R).
- develop a study that justifies the need for automation based on quality, cost, ergo, or throughput requirements.
- Manage projects from concept development to handover to production and other key stakeholders

THIS IS WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or similar technical field.
- 3+ years experience in designing and implementing highly automated lines.
- Knowledge/experience in layout development, concept equipment design development, and new product startups.
- 3+ years of experience in managing new equipment installations and commissioning.
- Experience taking equipment from concept design to prototype, to mass production
- 3+ years of experience in conveyor, robotics, automation, pneumatics, servo motors, and general motors.
- 3+ years of experience in an engineering role.
- 3+ years of experience in project management.
- Knowledge of GD&T principles, MTTF, MTBF, and GR&R.
- Experience in developing detailed RFQ.
- 3+ years of experience in vendor management.
- Experience taking equipment from concept design to prototype, to mass production.
- Knowledgeable in high and low-volume manufacturing skills and concepts (cycle time analysis, quality control, equipment efficiency, equipment selection, return on investment, etc.).
- Demonstrated ability to solve complex technical problems and see the solution implemented to a high level of accuracy & quality.
- Ability to work independently to execute a project plan based on a general direction.
- Capable of working as a member of a team across several cross-functional disciplines, including with external stakeholders.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience working in both 2D & 3D CAD (AutoCAD & Catia)
- Willing to think outside the box and willing to challenge the status quo.
