Position Summary:




Responsible for providing care for patients/athletes including assessment, treatment, care planning and medical care evaluation by following standards and practices. Assists physicians, mid-levels, and other staff in coordinating patient/athlete care. Acts as a liason between the patient/athlete, their parents/guardians, physicians and physicians staff, as well as the coaching staff to communicate effectively regarding the athletes injury and care. Assists physicians, mid-levels, and other staff in coordinating patient/athlete care.









Qualifications:




EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's Degree in CAATE accredited Athletic Training Program or graduate related equivalent major or Master's Degree in CAATE accredited Athletic Training Program or graduate related equivalent major

CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS
Athletic Trainer License Illinois upon hire and Certified Athletic Trainer Board of Certification for the Athletic Trainer upon hire and Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
New grads welcome to apply. 1 (one) year experience preferred but not required. AndMust be proficient and meet all requirements of the ATC within 1 (one) year of start date in the position

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Experience in initiating appropriate crisis interventions and emergency response. Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.Strong communication skills with other medical professionals, athletes, and family members in an emergency situationStrong patient care skills. Possess strong critical thinking skills and make independent decisions regarding the assessment, treatment, rehabilitation and return to play decisions per state licensure guidelines. Ability to promote favorable facility image with physicians, patients/athletes, hospitals, other health care providers and the general public.Flexible work schedule.










Essential Functions:




  • Provides outreach athletic training services to contracted clubs, high schools, college teams as assigned.
  • Communicates effectively with athletes, their parents/guardians, coaching staff, team and community physicians, physical therapists and other athletic trainers regarding the injury and plan of care.
  • Onsite care and management of illness and injuries including prevention, education, evaluation, management and rehabilitation. Minimize the risk of injuries through awareness, education, and prevention strategies.
  • Electronic documentation of all patient/athlete encounters including injury evaluations, referrals, treatments, and rehabilitation.
  • Possess strong critical thinks skills and has the ability to make independent decisions regarding the assessment, treatment, rehabilitation and return to play decisions per state licensure guidelines.
  • Ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure, working with the entire medical team to perform life saving measure in a crisis.
  • Responsibility for administrative and other duties as assigned.
