Work in a diverse environment that offers individuals the ability
to interact with clients/patients in both mental and addiction
recovery environment. Work as a member of a multidisciplinary team
in providing psychiatric care as a consultant to a large
medical/surgical inpatient service. Work collaboratively with
hospital staff, providing liaison activities such as educational
offerings, assistance with behavioral management of patients, and
debriefings. Assists discharge resource team in coordinating
transfers to outside psychiatric hospitals as needed and aftercare
planning for psychiatric needs. Provides short term therapy for
patients with mental health and/or addiction disorders.
Masters Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology or Related
CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS
Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) Illinois upon hire or
Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) Illinois upon
Minimum two (2) years of experience.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
Experience in hospital-based clinical treatment services preferred.
Be able to work with adult patients on Mental Health, Addiction
Recovery and medical units. Also be able to work with adults in
Mental Health and Addiction Recovery outpatient treatment programs.
Must possess flexibility and coordination skills.
- Provides psychosocial assessments and treatment to patients and
or families related to adjustment to illness and discharge
- Provides education and support to patents and their families to
encourage compliance with medical and behavioral regimes.
- Provides individual, family, and group therapy as appropriate
- Assists with assessment and treatment of behavioral issues in
the hospital, including consultation.
- Maintains effective communications with staff and attending
physicians related to patient care, psychosocial, and psychiatric
- Provides brief interventions utilizing evidence-based
techniques such as behavioral activation, motivational
interviewing, and cognitive behavioral techniques.
- Documentation consistent with established policy and procedures
to create a permanent patient record.
- Assists, and serves as a resource to the case management team
with referring to treatment or community agencies as
