Springfield, IL Salary Range: $37,000-$42,000 Hope is a clinical,
educational, and therapeutic provider for individuals with
intellectual and developmental disabilities, including Autism
Spectrum Disorder. We exist to help children and their families

behavioral analysis therapies and access to recreation, vocational
training, and individualized education programming. Our mission is

evidence-based treatment, advocacy, and community education. The
Training Specialist I is responsible for training new and existing
employees as well as coordinating, developing, implementing and
revising employee trainings. The position helps provide oversight
to the Hope Academies new employee training program as well as
various supports to all Hope programs; interacts with employees,
co-workers and other trainers in a warm, positive, helpful and
professional manner; navigates various technology, software and
websites daily; uses active listening and clear communication to
navigate conflict resolution and embodies the mission and core
values of Hope. The person must have the ability to successfully
complete background clearance, physical & drug/alcohol screening,
and the ability to qualify as a DCFS driver. The position requires
travel to various Hope locations, up to 20% of working hours.
Training Specialist Essential Duties: Conduct and coordinate
employee development, training, and orientation programs, including
but not limited to new employee training for Hope Academy programs,
Safety Care, Trauma Informed Care, and CPR/First Aid trainings.
Assist in the managing of new employee training for Hope legacy
programs including setting up for trainings, managing the
day-to-day operations of the training, carrying the training cell
phone and the enforcement of the Hope policies & training
expectations. Assist in completing trainings for Hope Clinic Care
programs both in town and in other areas. Assist in monitoring and
ensuring staff are in compliance and current with all training
requirements. Assign courses in Hope University to employees as
well as approve employee uploaded documents and chart them where
required. Input completed trainings into required websites,
software and spreadsheets and obtain trainees’ training
certifications. Manage and proctor the ACT WorkKeys testing for
newly hired paraprofessionals. Create interactive trainings and
PowerPoints from developed materials as well as occasionally
researching new information to put into trainings. Assist with
audits on as as-needed bases for various internal and external
agencies (including state funding and licensing bodies). Attain and
then maintain trainer certifications in Safety Care, CPR/First Aid
and Trauma Informed Care trainings. Minimum Qualifications : High
School Diploma or GED equivalent. 1 years of experience working
directly with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental
disabilities. 2 years of experience in employee training or
development. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed primarily in an
indoor office or conference room/classroom environment, free from
extreme weather conditions. Work is performed both in a private
office setting and in a larger conference room/classroom setting
and may require close physical interactions with employees, within
a few feet or less, and involves daily contact with employees,
co-workers and other trainers. Work may involve conflict
situations. Work includes the ability to drive. Work may require
working flexible hours if trainings are required outside of normal
business hours. Position requires travel to various Hope worksites
and may require overnight stays. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The
Training Specialist I requires the ability to traverse property and
facilities to set up for trainings and complete trainings. This
position may be subject to prolonged periods of sit-down work at a
desk and working on a computer as well as prolonged periods of
standing (especially when training). Must be able to lift, push,
pull and carry a minimum of 50 pounds at a time. This position
requires the ability to bend, twist, kneel or stoop on a repetitive
or continuous basis, operate various business instruments including
computers, speakers, web cameras, projectors, or copiers requiring
manual dexterity. Data input and training creation may require
extended levels of concentration as well as visual acuity to read
paperwork and computer monitors; requires the ability to speak
clearly and communicate effectively with individuals encountered.

understanding of Hope’s programs, mission and core values.
Excellence in customer service; ensuring warm and friendly
exchanges. Skill in conflict resolution and de-escalation
techniques. Technical proficiency and the ability to use phone
systems and computer software. Skill in completing assignments
accurately and with attention to detail. Excellent organizational
skills. Ability to easily connect and form trusting relationships.
Ability to communicate and deliver presentations clearly and
effectively, both orally and in writing, utilizing video, audio,
documentation and other software to enhance employee learning
experiences. Ability to listen to and understand information and
ideas presented through spoken words and sentences. Ability to
apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that
make sense. Ability to navigate and utilize various software
systems such as Microsoft Office and ADP. Ability to work
professionally with people from a wide variety of cultural and
socio-economic backgrounds. Ability to work independently with
minimum supervision while prioritizing workloads to meet deadlines.
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion. Ability
to plan and manage multiple tasks to meet specific deadlines.
Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with
professional composure. Ability to successfully complete background
clearance, physical & drug/alcohol screening. Must have a valid
Illinois driver’s license and the ability to qualify as a DCFS
