the facts and maintain confidential information Description:
Performs ultrasound procedures that ensure accurate and complete
examinations. Exhibits competency in performing ultrasound
procedures while demonstrating appropriate anatomy and pathology.
Knowledgeable of catheters, biopsy instruments, and sterile trays,
preparing these items as necessary. Obtains accurate histories and
explains the rationale for procedures to patients and families.
Enhances image quality through the use of appropriate transducers
and machine settings. Evaluates finished images to ensure
diagnostic exams are submitted to radiologists. Maintains quality
care throughout the procedure. Assesses the abdominal arterial and
venous system using color imaging. Maintains a working knowledge of
equipment to function in all areas of ultrasound. Technically
knowledgeable of equipment operation, including hardware and
software. Performs reasonable troubleshooting and reports equipment
problems through appropriate channels. Maintains a clean work area
and checks and stocks all supplies in their specific area.
Documents equipment problems and verifies pertinent accessories
assigned to the room. Able to document areas of concern and set up
trays with sterile fields for radiologists. Assists radiologists
with biopsy and orders labs and pathology tests under their
direction. Performs support functions within the department to
ensure patient expectations and needs are met. Processes images and
paperwork promptly to ensure timely reporting to the physician's
office. Maintains and coordinates patient flow to ensure efficient
and expedient patient care. Enters patient information into the HIS
system to ensure efficient patient throughput. Participates in the
maintenance of QA, QC, and QI programs. Shares knowledge and guides
fellow technologists and students with proper department protocol
and procedures. Displays a professional attitude toward fellow
technologists and students, fostering mutual respect and creating a
productive learning environment. Requirements Required for
