Families participate in our Adoption Support and Preservation
Program on a voluntary basis. As a Family Therapist, you would
provide supportive services for adoptive children and their
families to help them stabilize their homes. Services are offered
to families formed through DCFS adoption, subsidized guardianship;
private domestic adoptions, foreign adoption or out of state

Job DescriptionAs a Family Therapist you would be able to assist
families by: Assessing and providing voluntary services to Central
Illinois families formed through adoption and subsidized
guardianship. Services include in-home assessments, crisis, and
other therapeutic interventions, education, training, support
groups, respite, advocacy and referrals to community services.
Conducting Mental Health Assessments. Planning services and
treatments that will strengthen and support the families and focus
Providing mentoring, advocacy, support, and education that will
protect children, preserve families and enhance the mental health
of children and families alike.
Offering appropriate therapeutic interventions that will support
the children and their families to enhance their overall level of
functioning. Assumes responsibility for on-call duties as
assigned.Representing the agency in a positive light to active and
potential clients, referral and funding sources, and the general
public. Utilizes community contacts to advocate for clients and to
promote child and family well-being.
Seeking Professional Development that enhances professional
competence through ongoing awareness of developments in the field
of post-adoption. Training in EMDR and Theraplay techniques will be
received within the first 16 months of employment.
Qualifications:Required - Master's degree in counseling, social
work, or related field required. Candidates should meet the
definition of a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) and
must be supervised by a licensed employee.Preferred - LCPC
preferred or should be eligible for and working toward licensure
and licensed Practitioner of the Healing Arts (LPHA) as defined in
