In this position, you will be responsible for development, coordination, and support of wellness and recreational activities across a variety of environments for persons served in our Marcfirst homes, FriendsFirst, and the Partnerships in Health Program. Position reports to the Wellness Coordinator. • Work closely with Wellness Coordinator in planning, coordinating and implementing wellness activities for the people and programs Marcfirst supports
• Plan, coordinate and implement activities for FriendsFirst, a Marcfirst program open to adults with disabilities within the community
• Assist Wellness Coordinator with supervision of interns and volunteers
• Train Marcfirst staff on documenting recreational and wellness activities
• Complete and document assigned outcome interviews with persons served
• Participate in discovery meetings and in the development of person-centered plans
• Ensures required documentation and data are submitted to the appropriate staff to be used in reports made to funders, including foundation and government grantors.
• Develop and distribute monthly calendar of activities for FriendsFirst and ROAM (Recreational Opportunities at Marcfirst)
• Support the Community Integrated Living Arrangement (CILA) Staff
• Provide input into the development of nutrition program with regard to individual's with specific dietary needs
• Train on shopping (use of LINK cards)
• Confirm attendance and participation in wellness activities at Carle BroMenn Health and Fitness Center
• As requested, assists in the completion and submission of grant applications specific to recreational and wellness initiatives
• Provide direct support in the CILA residential homes as requested.Requirements:
  • High School diploma or GED required. Bachelor's degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Physical Education, or related field preferred.
  • One year of experience supporting people with disabilitiesComputer skills including use of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Typical work schedule may be daytime hours but nights/weekends may be required as needed so open availability is necessary
  • Physical demands include occasionally lifting and moving up to 50 pounds, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling; frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms; and good close/distance vision abilities
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must be able to successfully pass criminal, DCFS, and safe driving background check
