To perform routine radiographic procedures on designated portion of
the body for use by physicians in diagnosing and treating patient
illness and/or injury to ensure patient safety and quality care.
The rold of the radiology technologist is to ensure customer
satisfaction, to support an atmosphere of respect and
professionalistm among other associates, including students from
the School of Radiology along with performing advanced imaging in
Surgery and Fluoroscopy.
Associate's Degree in Radiologic Technology or Certificate of
completion in Radiologic Technology
Illinois IEMA Radiography License upon hire
Radiography (R)(ARRT) within 3 months of hire
Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire
- Positions patient, adjusts equipment, secures, immobilizes and
uses support devices as needed to tactfully perform procedures.
Ensures that all patients are shielded in an appropriate manner.
When appropriate, visible signs of collimation to reduce radiation
scatter should be evident.
- Determines appropriate radiographic technique based on anatomy
and patient's condition to obtain quality images to provide to the
- Consistently performs two patient identifiers prior to the
start of every patient examination. Technologists obtains history
from patients regarding reason for prescribed tests. This
information is documented on the radnet order or as a PACS note for
the radiologist's review.
- Assists radiologists with fluoroscopic procedures to include
the more advanced and specialty procedures requiring additional
experience and knowledge. For example: Arthrograms, and
- Operates portable radiographic equipment and C-arm effectively
in patient room, intensive care, and surgery. For example: Digital
Portable in OR and C-arms. AAA's with injector. Pain management.
